What is an Art Cap?

What is an Art Cap?

You’ve probably seen one and not known what to call it.

A cap — but not quite. Covered in crystals, hand-painted, embellished with feathers or gemstones or sculptural sinamay. Something that makes you stop and ask: where did you get that?

That’s an Art Cap. And TOO CREATIVE makes them.

It’s not a fashion accessory

A fashion accessory is designed to complement an outfit. An Art Cap is designed to be the outfit — or at least, the thing everyone remembers.

The difference is in the making. A fashion accessory is produced. An Art Cap is created. There’s no mould, no template, no production line. Each one starts as a blank base and becomes something entirely new through hours of handwork — painting, embellishing, sculpting, placing crystals one by one until the piece feels finished.

You can’t rush that. You can’t replicate it. And you can’t buy it twice.

What goes into one

Every TOO CREATIVE Art Cap is different, but the process follows the same principles.

It starts with a premium base — a cap chosen for its shape, structure and quality. Then comes the design: sketched, considered, sometimes reconsidered. Then the making begins.

Depending on the piece, that might mean:

  • Hand-painting in multiple layers, each one drying before the next is applied
  • Setting crystals individually — not with a tool, by hand, one at a time
  • Sculpting sinamay into shapes that hold their form and move beautifully
  • Applying gemstones, feathers, pearls, micro-beads or embroidery
  • Building centrepieces — resin flowers, chandelier arrangements, botanical designs — from scratch

The simplest pieces take 15 hours. The most complex — like Kohinoor, with its 65 hours of work — take weeks.

Why a cap?

Caps are democratic. They work across ages, styles and occasions. They don’t require a specific outfit or a particular body type. They sit at eye level — which means they’re seen.

For wearable art, that matters. A painting hangs on a wall. An Art Cap goes where you go. It’s seen at Ascot, at weddings, at dinners, on the street. It starts conversations. It gets remembered.

That’s the point.

One of one. Always.

Every TOO CREATIVE Art Cap is one of one. When a piece sells, it’s gone. It will never be recreated, because no two handmade pieces are ever truly identical — and because that’s not what this is.

This isn’t a shop. It’s an artist’s studio that happens to have a checkout.

If you’ve found a piece you love, don’t wait. There is only one. And once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
