Some pieces take an afternoon. Kohinoor took 65 hours.
That’s over eight full working days. Nearly two weeks of evenings and weekends. Hundreds of individual decisions about where each crystal should sit, how the chandelier arrangement should fall, how many micro-beads the brim could hold before it became too much.
This is the story of how Kohinoor was made — and why it costs £275.
It started with a name
The Kohinoor diamond is one of the most famous gemstones in the world. 105 carats. Centuries of history. Owned by empires. The name means “Mountain of Light” in Persian.
When I started sketching this piece, I knew it needed to carry that same energy. Not just decorated — regal. Not just pretty — powerful. A cap that felt like it belonged in a collection, not just a wardrobe.
The base: hand-painted ocean blue
Before a single crystal was placed, the base took hours on its own. The ocean blue is hand-painted with iridescent wave detailing in teal, gold and green — built up in layers, each one drying before the next was applied. The goal was depth. The kind of colour that looks different in every light.
Most people won’t even notice the base once the embellishment is on. But it’s there. And it matters.
The centrepiece: a chandelier built by hand
The centrepiece is what stops people. A bold sapphire blue gemstone, framed by cascading baguette and round crystal drops arranged like a chandelier across the crown.
Each crystal drop was individually selected, positioned and secured. The baguette cuts had to align. The round crystals had to graduate in size. The whole arrangement had to feel like it was falling naturally — which meant it had to be placed with complete precision.
This section alone took the better part of two days.
The micro-beads: hundreds of them
Across the brim, hundreds of gold micro-beads are hand-set individually. Not sprinkled. Not applied with a tool. Each one placed by hand, one at a time, so that they catch the light at every angle as the wearer moves.
It’s the kind of detail you only notice up close. But once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
Why it costs £275
At 65 hours, Kohinoor is the most labour-intensive piece TOO CREATIVE has ever made. That works out at roughly £4.23 per hour of skilled craft — before materials.
The sapphire gemstone, baguette crystals, round crystal drops and gold micro-beads are all premium materials, sourced specifically for this piece. Nothing was chosen for cost. Everything was chosen for quality and longevity.
There is no factory that could produce Kohinoor. There is no algorithm that designed it. It exists because someone sat down for 65 hours and made it, by hand, from scratch.
There will only ever be one
When Kohinoor sells, it’s gone. Not discontinued — gone. It will never be recreated, because no two handmade pieces are ever truly identical, and because that’s not what TOO CREATIVE is.
One piece. One owner. Never repeated.
That’s not a marketing line. That’s just the truth of how this works.
Kohinoor is available now. If you’re reading this and it’s still here — it’s yours if you want it.
